The resource centre has been developed to offer a wide range of facilities that are available to groups of children and adults from the Tendring area of Essex who have learning or physical disability. Activities can be delivered to meet the needs of individuals and these can be discussed with the centre manager. Appointments to view the centre can be arranged during opening hours. Visitors are very welcome. The reception area has comfortable seating with snack facilities.
The resource centre consists of a day room with teaching area and fitted kitchen, large sensory room and specialised water bath. The sensory room and specialised water bath have ceiling tracked hoists, which allow easy access for people with physical disability.
The centre has ramped access for easy wheelchair entry and a large car park, which enables vehicles to park close to the entrance.
The extremely large, well-equipped
sensory room has been specially designed to offer the opportunity to have a
totally relaxing session or to enjoy the benefits of receiving powerful
stimulation to all of the senses.
The room is divided into six areas with different themes, each containing
equipment which can be used to provide a wide range of sensory experiences.
These allow groups of up to six people to use the room at any one time.
Bookings can be made by groups and organisation in the Tendring area and
will hopefully promote links between carers, clients and organisations.
Normal opening hours 9am to 4.30pm.
Arrangements can be made to use all of these facilities out of normal hours and at weekends. Rates of hire to be agreed.
Any damage caused to equipment or premises is chargeable to the client.
Activities can be tailored to the
individual need of clients and these should be discussed with the centre
manager.
The centre will also be able to provide activities in the community if
required and will have access to a suitable vehicle for trips and visits
further in the wider community.
£25 per 2½ hours session
Sessions from 9.30am to 12noon & 1pm to 3.30pm
£55 all day, client to supply own lunch
