Anyone can become a victim of crime

Any of us could be affected by crime at any time.  It is sometimes hard to know who to turn to, particularly if you do not want to involve the police.  Victim Support can help you whether or not you want to report the crime.  It doesn’t matter what sort of crime it is and it doesn’t matter when it took place.

If you want information please call us on (01255) 424934.  All calls are confidential.

Perhaps you have been the victim of a crime, whether it is a recent event or in the past.  You may be worried about someone in your family, or a friend or colleague who has been the victim of a crime.  You may have been called as a witness, and want to find out more about the process.  Just give us a call and we will try to help.

"Since the burglary, no matter how many times I've cleaned the flat, it doesn't feel the same" "I keep thinking I see the person who attacked me walking down the street towards me" I'm so worried about going to court and having to face him again"

What kind of help can I expect?

We can provide practical information as well as emotional support if you need it.  We can refer you to a Witness Service, or to another agency.  We can also give you help and information about criminal injuries compensation, but most importantly, we can listen to what is on your mind.

How you can help...

More funds urgently needed
Victim support receives some funding from central and local government. Other costs have to be found through fund-raising.

You can help by:
          * Sponsoring a project    * Making a donation    * Joining 'Friends of Victim Support'

More volunteers urgently needed
Victim Support depends upon many thousands of people who give up their time to help victims recover from the distress caused by crime.  Volunteers are welcome from all sections of the community.  Full training is given and all out of pocket expenses are paid.

You can help by:
                   * Training as a volunteer visitor                * Training as a court based volunteer

There are also opportunities to help in other ways, for example with fund-raising and publicity or with translation and interpreting.
